A summer like day descended on the bullring of the Poconos with sun and temperatures reaching eighty degrees to make for perfect racing conditions. With picture perfect, seventy entries of eager racers filled the pit area and spectators packed the stands of Snydersville Raceway. The racing was second to none with lot of great battles and hard-fought wins. Here are this week’s results:
A stout field of Kid Karts started the night off for the feature races. Craig Sprague Jr. the pole sitter took the green flag from Mr. Starter Bob Stull with Wyatt Yetter in second. However, Yetter would spin out and hit the tire in turn two bringing out the first caution of the feature. The Green Flag came out and the future stars put the pedal to the metal. Laps ticked away but many more cautions plagued the race as the drivers tried to learn how to get around the bullring. Checkered would fall and the winner of the first feature race of the evening was Craig Sprague Jr., followed by Wyatt Yetter finishing second, Wyatt Fink rounded out third and Jackson Shrewsburg rounded the field out in fourth.
One of the headline events of the night was a $200 to win Sr. Clone Heavy Money Race. Four competitors time trialed for their starting spots for the 20-lap feature and Jeremy Tuttle got quick-time and the pole for the race. Tuttle lead the field for the first few laps if the feature with Joseph Pacovich right behind him in second. Tuttle and Pacovich battled for first place the entire way, gaining some distance on the other two competitors. Five laps were left when a move was made by Pacovich for the race lead and Tuttle went spinning in turn three, bringing out the caution. Race restarted with Tuttle in the rear, but he made his way up to third and fighting his way to the top spot. However, time ran out and Pacovich lead the rest of the race after the restart and took home the win. Ryan Demers took second followed by Tuttle in third and Ron Ehrhardt in fourth.
Briggs Stock Heavy rolled out on the track as the third feature race of the evening. Jason Wolfe took the green flag with Defending Champion Matthew Rodenbach in second. Briggs Heavy Rookie Alex Kolonics battled Rodenbach for second as Wolfe picked up distance between him and the rest of the field. Kolonics succeed with his pass for second over Rodenbach. Jason Wolfe remained flawless and led every lap of the 15-lap feature picking up his first of two wins on the evening, Alex Kolonics followed in second, Matthew Rodenbach finished third and Devon Nethercott rounded out in fourth. The Microstocks put on an exciting heat race putting the spectators on the edge of their seats for the Feature. The race began with an early race caution involving Matthew Gyurkovics and Charlie Shaver getting caught up in turn four spinning out. The restart of the race began with the Two Time and Defending Champion Steven Frindt bringing the field to the green. Frindt pulled away from the field immediately with Tom Arntz and Timothy Flyte battling for second place. Half way through the feature a major wreck involving Dillions Emmons and Charlie Shaver making contact in turns three and four sending Emmons spinning across the track in front of the field, leaving Matt Gyurkovics nowhere to go. Gyurkovics hit the wall and landed on his side bringing out the red. After cleanup, Emmons was able to continue the race however, Gyurkovics had too much damage to run the rest of the race. The green flag came back out with Frindt still in the lead. Arntz took over the second-place position with Charlie Shaver in third. Steven Frindt would half-track the field, leaving all his competitors behind battling amongst themselves for each position, and drove his way to his first checkered flag of 2018. Tom Arntz followed Frindt in second, Charlie Shaver rounded out the top three, Dillon Emmons took home a fourth, and Matt Ackerman rounded out the top five. 6th- Cale Van Noordt, 7th- Timothy Flyte, 8th- Matt Gyurkovics.
The Sr. Animal Champs put on tight and highly competitive race for the four-car field. The race began with Billy Proctor leading the first few laps of the feature race with Troy Snyder, Bob Wilson, and Steve Rothwein all nose to tail. Then some contact would ensue with Wilson spinning Snyder out, bringing out the caution. Proctor brought the field back to green. Troy Snyder didn’t waste time and started coming up through the field to take the second-place position. Billy Proctor held on relentlessly, leading every lap, to bring home his first career Snydersville Victory. 2016 Points Champion Troy Snyder followed in second, Mr. Bob Wilson finished in third and Steve Rothwein rounded out in fourth.
Jr. Slingshots rolled out for their feature race of the evening with Adam Buchel leading the entire race of the three-car field to bring home the win in the quick feature. Jacob Taylor took home second and Tuck Cole rounded out in third.
Five of Snydersville’s young guns put on an exciting feature in the Jr. Sportsman division. Jayce Brown lead the field to the green followed by Brandon Walsh in second. Cadence Freeman wasted no time and took over the second-place position catching up to Brown in the top spot. A fast caution-free feature brought Jayce Brown down to the checkered flag, winning the race. 2017 Points Champion Cadence Freeman finished in second, Brandon Walsh rounded out in third, Austin Sieberg finished fourth, and Griffin Hendershot rounded the field out in fifth.
Two New York residents made up the Sr. Clone Heavy points class. Jeremey Tuttle and Ryan Demers flew around Snydersville with times clocking at 11.5 seconds. The two-stayed close but Jeremy Tuttle took the checkered flag, and Ryan Demers rounded out in second.
The High Horsepower and thrilling Outlaw Karts captured everyone’s attention around the race track. The division put on an exciting heat race as they sprayed the clay at Snydersville. Russ Ludwig and Eric Freeman compiled the front row and as the field took the green both drivers tangled up to bring out the one and only caution. Both karts retired early from the race with one losing a chain and the other getting a flat tire. The lead defaulted to Tom Arntz earning him the checkered flag and the win. Russ Ludwig Jr. rounded out second, Eric Freeman finished in third, and not making the call was Russ Ludwig III.

The Sr. Flathead Champ division put on an edge-of-your-seat thrilling heat race with nine cars all looking for the top spot and this permeated into the feature event. Last week’s winner, Bob Wilson got the pole for the largest class of the evening. Wilson took off and put some distance in-between him from the rest of the field. Chris Hendershot and Jack O’Connor battled back and forth for the runner up spot. After many passes, the two caused a major wreck in turn four caused by contact between Jack O’Connor and Chris Hendershot. Both drivers had too much damage to finish the race along with Joe Yakarino who was collected in that wreck. The race was now down to five cars left with Wilson still leading the pack. Bob Wilson would hold on to his lead the rest of the race and took home his second win of the season. “Rapid” Rick Shive took home the runner up spot followed by Hunter Smith rounding out the podium in third, Ashleigh Fogel took home a fourth and John Maconeghy rounded off in fifth. 6th- Chris Hendershot, 7th- Jack O’ Connor, 8th- John Martinsky, 9th- Joe Yakarino.
Greg Zellman took home the win in the nonstop AllStar Slingshot Feature followed by “The Jersey Girl” Emily Fleming finishing in second, Amanda Buchel rounded out in third, with Jason Kraycirik finishing in fourth and Andrew Turpin rounded out the top five.
The Jr. Sportsman Champ remains stout class from 2017 as eight eager racers rolled out one by one for their feature race. Xavier Sprague brought the field to the green with Justin Teresak by his side. But a caution fell on the race as Teresak turned into Sprague causing a pile up of cars going into turn two. Cristofer Buehl inherited the lead with Ian McGuire in the second position. Green flag returned and Buehl took off into lead putting distance from the rest of the field. However, 2017 Champion Cadence Freeman was determined to get to the front. She worked her way up to second place throughout the first few laps of the race. She now set her sights on Buehl and was able to make a crucial move that gave her the lead and the checkered flag for the Jr. Sportsman Champ class. Cristofer Buehl took home runner up followed by Brandon Walsh rounding out the top three, Griffin Hendershot finished in fourth, and Justin Teresak rounded out the top five. 6th- Ian McGuire, 7th- Xavier Sprague, 8th- Tre Mammana.
The final race of the evening was a $200 to win Briggs Stock Heavy Money Race. The best time and pole position went to Jason Wolfe. When the green dropped Wolfe sped away from the five-car field with Joseph Pacovich in second, John Wolfe in third and Alex Kolonics in fourth. As Wolfe’s tires went away, Pacovich caught up to Wolfe hoping to make a pass for the lead. However, Jason Wolfe held back Pacovich to take home the win and the cash. Joseph Pacovich finished in second followed by John Wolfe rounding out third and Alex Kolonics took home fourth. DNS- Richie Spaide.
